Citizen of the Benchland Water District
to elect four (4) Trustees by an election to their governing board on
November 7, 2017
The Benchland Water District provides irrigation service to much of Farmington, parts of Kaysville and Fruit Heights and to adjacent areas of unincorporated Davis County. The District is governed by a board of seven (7) Trustees that serve four-year terms of office. At the present time those serving as Trustees are Chairman Paul White, Vice Chairman Judy Rice, Scott Bass, Paul Hirst, Phil Leonard, Justen Smith and Jim Taylor.
Four of the seven Trustees of the Benchland Water District will complete their terms of office December 31, 2017. The four Trustees whose terms expire are Phil Leonard, Judy Rice, Jim Taylor and Justen Smith.
Responsibilities of Trustees as a participant of the elected seven member Board of Trustees of the Benchland Water District are as follows:
1. Attend the regularly scheduled and specially called Benchland Board of Trustee Meetings. Attendence Policy: Miss no more than two (2) consecutive meetings.
2. Set and approve District Policy, set and approve District Budget and expenditures, and oversee the District Management.
Residents of the District desiring to become a candidate for Trustee in the 2017 election must file their Declaration of Candidacy with the Benchland Water District Clerk during office hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weekdays between June 1, 2017 and June 8, 2017. Qualifications for Candidacy are as follows:
Be a United States Citizen
Be at least 18 years old.
Be a resident of the Benchland Water District.
Be a registered voter of the Benchland Water District.
Candidate cannot be an employee of the Benchland Water District.

The Benchland Water District is governed by a Board of seven Trustees, elected by District water users every second year. Each elected Trustee is in office for a period of four years. In the General Election to be held in 2015, three trustees will be up for re-election. They are Paul Hirst, Reid Neumann and Paul White.

*The District has had changes occur to the Office of the Board of Trustees due to the resignation of Reid Neumann and Dee Winegar. After the election on November, 3, 2015, Dee's position will be filled at the next Board of Trustee meeting to be held on Thursday, November 19. Interested persons should contact the District.
